Chapter 31: It Lies Beneath

*Sort of long and I apologize but everything is coming to a head!*

“What the hell was that?” Christina jumped from her bed at the sound of the blast. Sirens wailed in the distance and she turned out the window to take a look. A large deal of fire trucks and police cars had assembled near the quad and around the main entrance to the school. A crowd had gathered nearest they could and she could barely make out a news van doing its best to get front and center of the action.

Thick, black, billowing smoke encompassed the area as a large fire rumbled through the center of the University. Firefighters were doing all they could to control the blaze as police officers and campus security moved to keep the people at bay. “Clear this area!” A policewoman shouted above the roar of the sirens. Flames licked higher and higher up the back wall of the stadium reaching up towards the empty stands and choking out any oxygen around the small rooms.

Chapter 30: Yearbook

“Dad?” Christina turned in surprise watching her father walking behind a small group of other men towards the Campus Assembly room. “Daddy!” She rushed forward and threw her arms around his neck hugging him tight enough to make him choke and pull away.

Chapter 29: Killer Among Us

Jordan, Donovan and Christina sat quietly thinking over everything that was happening and the number of deaths that had occurred within the time span of a few weeks. Nothing was making sense and the animal only seemed to be getting bolder in its attacks. It had made blatant attempts on nearly everyone’s life but Christina felt certain that there was something deeper lying beneath the Animal’s patterns.

Chapter 28: Murder Camp

Day two on the survivor challenge and the girls sat around the camp fire discussing various things. A strange beeping sound drew their attention where Ayesha lay against one of the logs near her tent and they all mocked in annoyance realizing what the sound was.

Chapter 27: Alone in the Dark

“Hey Lou is that you?” Paige asked above the blaring of the music on her work bench and the clinking of tools in her ears. “Hand me that 6 pointer would ya?” She was in the middle of an oil change on a Wornado Triage and was hurrying so she didn’t miss her movie date with Amber. “Thanks!” Her foot tapped to the beat of the music and she sang along a little, smiling as she popped the drain plug gasket off to allow the used oil to drip into the pan.

Chapter 26: Hell Week

“Alright bitches! The time has come to show everyone what you’re made of! This is the week you have all been waiting for! This is the week that will decide which of you is worthy and which of you will lick the dirt from the winner’s shoes! Now in honor of our fallen sister, Kendra Winslow, I’ve decided that the game we’ll host is one of her favorites The Alpha Sigma Rho Panty Raid.” Rachael stood in front of the pledges with a few other sisters behind her. They all sat listening to her spiel curious what other curves she was planning to through their way; this just sounded way too easy.

Chapter 25: The Chemistry Between Us

**Warning: Attempted rape scene.**

“Chrissy,” Kayne called as he watched her rush off towards her dorm. “Chrissy wait up.” Stopping her just between the dining hall and bookstore he waited until a throng of students filed into the eatery before beginning again. “I heard about what happened with you and Rachael. I just wanted to say I’m sorry things went that far. I’ve tried talking to her but she’s on this power trip that just…I don’t know. I’ve never seen her like this before.”

“You know what she did?” He nodded and sighed in resolve. “That bitch is messing with my reputation and my credibility with the Dean! What is she up to now? It can’t still be because of you! After everything that’s happened why can’t she just let things go?” Another group of errant passersby glanced in their direction and Kayne pulled Christina off to the side to afford more privacy.

Chapter 24: Dirty Tricks

“This is so exciting!” Christina squealed and gathered up her drink and Raisinets. Jordan and Paige shoved a few more drinks, a box of popcorn and two more bags of candy onto her tray as the trio started up the stairs to take their seats. “Whoa ok, I guess we should have got a bigger tray,” she sighed and balanced the items on the small wooden platform as she climbed the steps to the top.

Chapter 23: Green-Eyed Monster

“There he is, the man of the hour!” A deep voice growled in the darkness that encased the hallway as Ezra hurried to his room.

“K-K-Kayne?” he shrunk in fear as the football player inched closer to where he stood. Gripping him by the collar he tossed the kid against the wall. A pair of students walked out from their room heading down to the recreation center of the dorm and Kayne growled pushing Ezra towards his.

Chapter 22: Coupling

Christina stirred slightly and felt the side of the bed where Remington should have been. Running her hand along the cool surface of the sheets she frowned and peeked one eye open at a time looking for him. She groaned in frustration and defeat until she spotted him in the corner near the window drawing something. “Hey sleepy head,” he smiled watching her search for him as she finally awoke.

Chapter 21: Breaking Curfew

“It’s happened again!” She heard the whispers as she started down the hallway. Watching the tense and frightened faces of the students as she passed, Christina became very nervous herself and hurried towards the Quad.

Chapter 20: Night at the Opera

**Warning: Sex scene included in this chapter. It is not pertinent to the story, skip it at your leisure!**

The light from the window bathed the room in a bright glow and Ezra sat up as Rachael began to stir. She had passed out shortly after sex and he nearly toppled on his head as she pulled the covers up around her body hogging the bed. He took it as his signal to leave and moved to the other side of the room since he hadn’t a roommate and slept in the empty bed alone like he normally would.

Chapter 19: Final Exam

“I don’t know Jordan he just looked so serious when he was asking. I mean he said before that he had been hurt by another girl and I could tell he was really scared of it happening again. I just…when I get my hands on that Rachael! Her and Kayne and their lies! And then to think she was trying to ruin his life!”

“Relax, he told you he took care of the drugs right?”

-- And yes Jim it's another half chapter :P the last though! (Well last half chapter length one).

“Oh nice jacket,” Kendra exclaimed peeking into Christina’s closet. “Where’d you snag this?” She tossed it on and modeled it in front of her mirror, pouting her lips as though she were on a runway.

“I bought it from a tradeshow in Washington before I came back here. Feel free to borrow it any time you want.”

“Yeah?” Her eyes lit up and she smiled at Jordan watching her dance in front of the mirror.

Chapter 17: Practice Makes Perfect

“One moment,” Ursula sighed into the phone. Quietly she walked the hall towards the billiard room and knocked once.

“Come in dear,” Freddy urged with a smile in his voice. “You know you don’t have to knock like that Sweetheart.” He pulled away from the table and quickly pecked her cheek.

“I know I just I didn’t want to disturb you. I know Mike doesn’t really get up here very often and I’d hate to think I was bothering you during your ‘guy time’.” She watched Michael take his shot and backed away as he circled around near her.

Chapter 16: The Car Wash

“How much we make so far?” Jordan asked looking at the tip jar beside Christina’s leg and frowning at the small amount within.

“Mmm looks like $40.”

“$40? That’s it? The goal is $200 per team! I am NOT about to clean those damn windows and floors again! If Rachael thinks for a second that…” the sound of a motor revving interrupted her thought and they both turned at the sight of Remington pulling up. He was leather clad and smiling as he drove closer.

Chapter 14: I Pledge to Thee

**Warning: Sex scene included in this chapter. It is not pertinent to the story, skip it at your leisure!**

“Why would someone want to hurt Donny?” Christina asked taking a bite of her Chicken Marsala.

“I don’t know but from what he said whoever it is was did not just try to hurt him, they were trying to kill him.”

“Do you believe him?”

“Of course I do, there’s no reason for him to lie like that. Despite what Dean Myers is saying he is not an ‘attention starved artist’! He is very much sane and very much afraid of whoever did this to him. I’ve never seen him so spooked before.” She dipped one of her shrimps into her cocktail sauce and bit into it. “You know he thinks that this is the person committing these murders too. He’s always suspected that it was a person not an animal like the police are saying.”

Chapter 13: Don't Become the News

Donovan turned the lights on in the office, dropped his bag beside the chair of his desk and hurried to the printing room. Unlocking the server room door, he prepared the campus newspaper for press by setting the amount of copies and getting the first edition scanned. Turning on the television he took a seat behind his computer near the window and listened to the news as he organized the stories.

Chapter 12: Passing Notes

“Hey,” Remington smiled as he watched Christina’s eyes flutter open. “How ya feeling?”

“Mmm well rested.” She pulled the covers up to her neck and watched his eyes as they combed over her body. It was almost as if she could see the very moment his mind started undressing her and the smile that made them sparkle confirmed it. “How are you feeling?”

“Relaxed,” he shrugged and leaned over stealing a kiss from her lips. She shrunk back and squealed as his mouth left hers causing him to laugh. “What was that?”

“Nothing it’s just…I have morning breath and you kissed me, must mean you care.”

**Warning: Sex scene included in this chapter. It is not pertinent to the story, skip it at your leisure!**

Christina rapped lightly on the door and waited. Moments passed and he had still not come to answer. Again she tried, this time calling his name afterwards. “Remy?” Shuffling noises could be heard through the door and she leaned closer to get a better listen. “I know you’re in there Remington, please open the door and talk to me.”

Chapter 10: Competition

“You’re seriously going out with him again?” Jordan asked standing behind Christina with her arms folded into her chest. The motherly look on her face was more out of concern for her friend’s reputation than anything else knowing the kind of person Kayne is. “What on Earth would ever make you agree to that? Don’t you have enough crap to deal with already? And now with this dance team and his ex-bitch as our captain…she’s just going to make your life miserable because of this you know that right?”

“Jordan, she’s out to make my life miserable regardless. The way I see it, she put herself on the dance team to watch it crash and burn and laugh at us as we smolder in the ashes. I figured this way I’ll at least get a nice laugh at her on the nights I know she doesn’t get to have her ex the way she wants.”

Chapter 09: Dance, Dance Revolution

Christina sat in the lobby listening to various members of the student body come before the Activities Committee with different ideas and each of them being denied. It caused a rather large and obtrusive lump to form in her throat as she thought about the proposal sitting in her lap with several signatures already included. She had the proof that others besides her were very interested in the idea of new classes for dance and/or an extracurricular. But that still was not enough solace to rid her of the butterflies that now called her stomach home. The board seemed rather critical about what happened as far as newly projected events.

Chapter 08: Waterscape

“Close your eyes,” Remington smiled as he stood outside Christina’s dorm room. She gave him a curious look and shook her head no. “Oh come on I don’t want to spoil the surprise!” His smile was genuine and he had the look of both confidence and honesty gleaming at her from those perfect blue orbs centered in his face. Christina felt a sense of warmth looking at him and thought to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Chapter 07: Organic Chemistry

Christina stared at the fresh plastic wrapper still snuggled tight around the Organic Chemistry text. Her assigned lab partner had yet to unwrap his book but brought it to class with him every day. She found it curious but never bothered to ask since they just shared hers. This was only her fifth time seeing him and she wasn’t quite sure what to make of him just yet. He seemed smart; a relative science genius for all accounts and purposes and she was lucky to get him as her partner. But otherwise, socially, he was very awkward. His style, if you could call it that, was bizarre and looked as though he preferred thrift stores to designer labels.

Chapter 06: Boy Meets Girl

After endless hours of going over the events in her head, Christina came to the conclusion of her rescuers’ identity. It had to be Remington Cantrell. The blue eyed, tanned swim God she’d first seen on her tour of the campus. His eyes were gorgeous and she’d never seen a color so pure before. If she was wrong then she’d have egg on her face and feel like a complete ass for even assuming he’d talk to her let alone pull her from a certain death. But if she was right then she had to thank him for what he did and let him know how much she appreciated his act of heroism.

Chapter 05: Brush with Death

“Damn I wish I could have been there to see that,” Jordan sighed as she sat beside Christina on the cold gymnasium floor. “Rachael is a real bitch and I would have LOVED to see her get her ass handed to her!”

“Yeah Chrissy held her own! It was awesome! I thought by the end of it the bitch would have been bald,” Amber laughed. “I was only scared that she was about to swing on me for pulling them apart!”

Chapter 04: Life of the Party

Screams erupted from the dark corridor beside Bentley Hall and Christina covered her ears to ignore them once again. Finally sick of the constant noise she stood from her bed to shut the window. “I mean seriously don’t they know that SOME of us are trying to study?”

“Relax Chrissy you just got here there’s no need to go balls to the wall crazy with work!”

Chapter 03: Rush Week

“Welcome ladies to the House of Swag!” Keitano smiled as he opened the door for them to enter. “As you can see we have drinking to my right, dancing to my left and sex all around us. Please, choose an activity and let the fun begin! Oh and don’t forget the grab bowl there at the door.” He pointed towards a dish of condoms and lubes positioned beside the entrance hall and laughed. “Practice safe sex kiddies…plus I’d prefer not finding jizz all over my place when you’re done! Enjoy!” He grabbed Paige into his arms and guided her towards the couch.

Chapter 02: Campus Life

Christina sat tapping her pencil against her notebook as Professor Randall Steward went over his expected coursework. The syllabus was at least four pages in itself; the amount of work he was looking for in his students was ridiculous! Didn’t he know they had other classes to attend also? And on top of that after spending $300 on books and equipment alone for this course he wanted them to purchase their own chemistry set to bring with them to class? It was already too much and she was not looking forward to the ten page dissertation on the organic makeup of the cellular compounds found in the marine life near Cyprus-Gray. “This is going to be a long semester,” she griped and scribbled a note on her syllabus concerning the essay.

Chapter 01: The Collegian

“Welcome to Cyprus-Gray! Home of the Gray Wolves and famous for the sheer number of successful men and women we list among our Alumni!” The tour guide’s voice was annoyingly chipper and Christina Samuels found herself cringe at it a time or two and the worst part about it was they’d just started. “As some of you may already know Cyprus-Gray boasts one of the most highly recognized and prestigious names in academics and athletics. In fact we’re ranked #1 in our division for football, swimming, track and field and polo.”

“Here as you can see is a statue of one of our founders Mr. Carter Gray renowned scientist and philanthropist whose work on genetic imprinting engineered the discovery to several cures including ones for Kryton Syndrome and Type 1 Dermatosis. Thanks to his amazing hard work and dedication we can all revel in his genius and hope a bit of it rubs off on us here,” she laughed at her own joke before continuing on. “Ok right this way I want to give you a look at the new facilities that just opened up last semester where we host a variety of new majors for our students.”
