The Cyprus-Gray Sirens formed with the creative thinking of Christina Samuels. After an audition period, she and Jordan Brighton welcomed three new girls: Rachael Moorehead, Amber Jacobs and Paige Franklin to the team. Each girl brings a new style and fresh ideas to their routines as they all have different individual backgrounds of dance.
Paige Franklin’s dance background is centered in hip-hop and she can pop and lock with the best. Since childhood she has picked up a great deal of moves from various street competitions and crews and even formed one herself when she was a teen. Her favorite dance is anything that shows the solid steps of breaking.
Christina Samuels dreamed of becoming a ballerina. And when her dance school closed down that didn’t stop her feet from moving. She continued learning and practicing in the comfort of her garage and even added more contemporary steps to her repertoire.
Rachael Moorehead started dancing as a background for cheering while in high school. Learning how to dance helped loosen her for performances while on the road and even landed her a spot on television. After a nationally run commercial where she performed as a belly dancer for a cell phone company, she started teaching herself and taking as many classes as she could for other types of dance including ballroom.
Jordan Brighton started tap dancing as a child as a way of learning balance and coordination according to her father. She was never a very graceful child until she put on her dancing shoes and she hasn’t taken them off since. She has even learned to salsa while playing her violin and puts on her own one-girl show for family and friends.
Amber Jacobs began as a gymnast and learned to incorporate her style of movements into more fluidity with dance. Breaking, swing, jazz and even her favorite country western are all present in every act she performs. Truly learning to embrace all aspects of dance, Amber has successfully showcased several cultures when she’s on the stage.
